The Civilian contingent of the 3rd New Jersey has had a long-standing tradition of supporting the military branch of the organization in a number of meaningful ways. Through their participation in scenarios at living history events and reenactments, those interested in a civilian impression can educate the public in many aspects of 19th century life. In years past the civilians have traveled as far as Ohio to attend the National Civil War Ladies’ Conference to learn about period clothing and etiquette. Civilians have organized fashion shows, craft demonstrations, and teas with special guests such as President Lincoln.
For the person interested in the civilian aspect of 19th century life, the 3rd has many activities for you.
